Anegan-Overdose of perfect doses
I still remember days, when one can get a hearty meal in marriage functions (Indian).Albeit the very few variety; one can get a substantial meal. On the contrary,today we have a wide variety of foods. From French fries to pasta, everything has been imported to Indian functions. Your plate will consist of all of these, but everything is measured in a pea sized spoon (Well, not accurately pea sized).You'll eat a spoon of your variety rice and before the taste dissolves, the next spoon you might have to eat another dish. If you are a fan of the second type, then Anegan is tailor made for you.

With a Concept which have a numerous concepts of its own. Anegan is a film that lives up to its name. Anegan- Single but multiple people. With four different stories the director tries to bind you to your seats. And a story is fully told within a duet song!!And speaking of songs, both the director and music director fails trying to bind you to your seats. You would get out of the theater in the song sequences.Except one. DANGAMAARI is not an exception. You would not sit in your seats for this one too, because you would be probably dancing. It’s a festival in the theaters. The theater operators might plead you to sit. This is Harris Jeyaraj's biggest triumph in recent times. And Dhanush nails it with ease.
Dhanush's talent and charm grows an inch in every film, despite the film's result. His modulation for each character is amazing. And a huge appreciation is needed for the lead actress. In a field where women are used as sex dolls, K.V.A makes a movie where the heroine carries the story from capital letter to full stop. Hat’s off to him. And the heroine has no problem delivering it neatly.Beware Karthik is back. His slang, style, appearance will mesmerize you. Except these three other characters don't have much to deliver. I still have the doubt about genres in Indian cinema. Should i add a super hero genre in each film along with the other genres? The protagonists here fly, is invulnerable and moreover they make the villains fly. Please don't expect any reality stunts in Anegan, you’ll have nightmares.
Coming back to the story, you might have heard these stories a hundred times before. Reincarnation, drugs, love, blah, blah, blah.It’s the screenplay that keeps you glued. The story's path is not clear. Reincarnation and mythology in one spoon and drugs and science in the next one. The film suffers from this confusion in every frame.K.V.A's effort to bring many things into his story deviates the story totally at times. And all the twists are so obvious here.Not because of the screenplay but because of the fact that K.V.Anand has used the same techniques already. Someone whose hand is in their pocket always, a strange guy who always frowns in close up behind the lead actors with villainous background music, a cop with a scar whose motives are not clear....and many more. I still can't figure out. K.V.A is one of the very few directors who took the audience to the next level, who makes the audience think. So, why are these cheap tricks? Trying to make the audience dumb, as they were in the first place.
And the story and screenplay lacks a huge amount of logic. Why does no one other than the two ladies experience the mind problems? Has no one in the company ever consulted any other psychiatrist other than the one specified? So many Why's and How's. Neverthless, this film entertains you. If you don't care about the story or art and if you just need a good entertainer, go for it. Anegan won't fail you. And watch out for Amyra’s flying kisses; make sure you catch them all!!
